2. What is your most memorable clinical case in which a mechanical device or machine was used as treatment? (answered by clinicians only)
 

The first successful neonatal ECMO case (described in the 1985 ASAIO Presidential Address "Esperenza) gave us optimism to continue with the project, which led to the establishment of ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenator) as treatment for cardiac and pulmonary failure.
