Museum

We encourage people of all ages to discover and explore the natural world. Our curators care for over a million specimens in the fields of anthropology, archaeology, astronomy, botany, geology, paleontology, zoology and wildlife biology.

Used for scientific research, their work is the basis for interpretive exhibits and educational programs offered to the public. Since 1920, the Museum has served as an outstanding resource for public education and environmental conservation in northern Ohio and beyond.

William Herschel was a distinguished astronomer and scientist who lived at 19, New King Street, Bath, in the 18th century. He was also a musician and composer and at one time music director for Bath. The Herschel Museum is a delightful period house, depicting life in the 18th century, the many achievements of William and his sister Caroline, and their impact on modern science ans space exploration.

In 1857, the Chicago Academy of Sciences became Chicago's first museum. In October 1999, the Museum expanded to become the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, and moved to its current home in Lincoln Park on Fullerton Parkway and Cannon Drive.

The University of Toronto Museum of Scientific Instruments (UTMuSI) Web Site represents a sample selection from our large and diverse collection of historic instruments currently found in science departments throughout the campus. UTMuSI is managed by the Institute for the History and Phi losophy of Science and Technology (IHPST) with active support from other departments of the university.

The Science Center, featuring "Space and Yokohama", offers an opportunity to learn about science by experience trough hands-on exhibits. Staffs perform science shows or conduct science experiment demonstrations which give information and show the principles on science. We ask for children's participation by encouraging questions and stimulating their interests so that they will enjoy learning science, rather than giving answers

A collection of pictures, documents and instruments retracing the work of the pioneering French Astrophysicist Daniel Chalonge (1895-1977) at the Institut d 'Astrophysique de Paris - of which he was one of the founders - at the Observatoire de Paris, the Observatoire de Haute Provence and at the Jungfraujoch Scientific Station (Switzerland) where particle physics experiments, such as the Manchester-CERN collaboration, were performed.

La Sede di Brera e la Sede di Merate sono provviste di ampie biblioteche, che conservano le moderne riviste astronomiche specializzate (ApJ, AJ, A&A, MNRAS, etc.) e una collezione di monografie recenti.
