The maps in this exhibition reflect the evolution of cartography in our country: Aboriginal peoples, European colonial powers, Canadians, governments, private industry and academics all produced precious maps. Although some are less appealing aesthetically, they nevertheless are significant as testimonies to the beginning of map printing in this country. From the astrolabe to computers, the history of our country and evolution in technology are laid out before us. They are on the scale of human will and dreams.

ABSTRACT: The Society of American Archivists (SAA) is the oldest and largest national professional association of archivists in North America. The collection contains materials from the organization of the SAA in 1936 to the present day. The main record groups document the activities of SAA officers; councilors; executive directors; the editorial offices of the American Archivist; and SAA committees, roundtables, sections, and task forces. Although the bulk of the collection consists of paper records, the history of the SAA is also documented in a wide variety of other record formats, including photographs, microforms, cassette tapes, and publications. The collection is ongoing, and not all records are fully processed at this time. The processed portion of the collection dates from 1936 to about 1990. If you wish to consult unprocessed material, e-mail the SAA Archivist. Information in this finding aid pertains to the processed portion of the collection. Updates will be made as processing continues.

Annotation:

This work in progress contains many items related to Albert Einstein including video and audio clips, letters, manuscripts and other papers. The web designers plan to transfer many of the documents into a digital format, thus making Einstein's unpublished works widely available. The navigation is fairly clean and simple, though download times for some documents may deter some browsers from staying here for a long period of time. The site also includes a brief introduction and chronology of Einstein and other useful tools.
