Historians of science and technology will find useful the pages devoted to timelines, chronologies, biographies, aircraft, power plants and some of the articles found in the features page. The Aeronautica Archives and Collections page may prove useful to researchers who are attempting to locate major collections in the United States. With so much information, the site is not easily navigated, however patient researchers may find more than a few things of interest here.
The Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum (NASM) maintains the largest collection of historic air and spacecraft in the world. It is also a vital center for research into the history, science, and technology of aviation and space flight.
The Museum has two display facilities. The flagship building on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. has hundreds of artifacts on display including the original Wright 1903 Flyer, the "Spirit of St. Louis," Apollo 11 command module, and a Lunar rock sample that visitors can touch. The new Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center displays many more artifacts including the Lockheed SR-71 "Blackbird", Boeing B-29 Superfortress "Enola Gay" and Space Shuttle "Enterprise". The museum continues to develop new exhibits to examine the impact of air and space technology on science and society.
The National Air and Space Museum is the nation's repository of technological instruments in the fields of aviation and space exploration. The collection of technologies housed at the Museum on the Mall and a soon to be completed hangar near Dulles International Airport. The website includes digital versions of all online exhibits and many past exhibits. The site also includes the on-line only "Commemorations in the Archives" exhibit which includes archival photographs, video and audio files about the breaking of the sound barrier, Charles Lindberg and the Zeppelin. Scholars will find the NASM Archive Division site useful as it has detailed information about collections and access to them.

The Humbul Humanities Hub's strategy for building collections of Internet resource descriptions contributes to the achievement of our mission which is to provide an online environment in which the UK humanities community can access and use evaluated digital resources for teaching and research purposes.
The Humbul Humanities Hub is a service that collects and evaluates humanities websites in order to assist scholars in using these resources. Its History and Philosophy of Science category includes almost 1000 sites divided into six subgroups: projects/organizations, primary sources, secondary sources, research related, teaching and learning, and bibliographic sources. The sites can also be sorted by period and by target audience. Humbul is also searchable for more specific queries.

Excellent resource for students of all levels, as well as those interested in serious research. A repository of enormous depth, this site contains information relating to the moon and planets and the missions which explored them. Technical and historical aspects are recounted in the mission files. There is a large collection of images of the entire solar system. Links are made to other NASA sites of potential interest, including the searchable NSSDC master catalog which contains detailed information about available data.
This site has biographies of women who contributed to our culture in many different ways. There are writers, educators, scientists, heads of state, politicians, civil rights crusaders, artists, entertainers, and others. Some were alive hundreds of years ago and some are living today. We've heard of some of them, while many more have been ignored by history book writers. I'd like to acknowledge as many as I can.
This text only, one-page site provides a helpful compendium of links to Web materials on prominent women involved with aviation and space exploration. At the top of the page are a number of recommended books on the subject, and at the bottom are some links to other sites on women in aviation and aerospace. In between is a list of over 50 women (a few born in the nineteenth century) and Web sites that contain biographical information about them. There are no images or biographical material on this site, however; just links.

The Museum of the Oxford University's History of Science houses an unrivalled collection of historic scientific instruments in the world's oldest surviving purpose-built museum building, the Old Ashmolean on Broad Street, Oxford. By virtue of the collection and the building, the Museum occupies a special position, both in the study of the history of science and in the development of western culture and collecting.
This is the home page for Oxford University's Museum of the History of Science. An overview provides a sense of the museum's collection, and a paragraph describes its history (and the history of the building it is housed in) since 1683. There are seven excellent online exhibits with numerous graphics and photographs, including pieces on the history of photography, mathematics and astronomy. All are composed for a lay audience. For researchers, a remarkable searchable database of over 13,000 objects allows visitors to find and view artifacts in the museum's collection. These objects span the entire history of science and technology, and many of them are extremely rare. Another section of the site features some of the best portraits, instruments and illustrations in the archive.
Since its inception in 1958, NASA has accomplished many great scientific and technological feats in air and space. NASA technology also has been adapted for many non-aerospace uses by the private sector. NASA remains a leading force in scientific research and in stimulating public interest in aerospace exploration, as well as science and technology in general. Perhaps more importantly, our exploration of space has taught us to view the Earth, ourselves, and the universe in a new way. While the tremendous technical and scientific accomplishments of NASA demonstrate vividly that humans can achieve previously inconceivable feats, we also are humbled by the realization that Earth is just a tiny "blue marble" in the cosmos.

Deeper in the site are extensive histories of NASA's (and its predecessor NACA's) activities in air flight, satellites, space probes and manned exploration of space. A long list of NASA personnel, with biographies, adds to the detail of the site, and detailed chronology of NASA's history is also available. In addition, there are dozens of technical diagrams and drawings for the various space craft NASA has built, including the Space Shuttle and the original Mercury capsules.
